QuietText privacy policy
Last updated 2026-10-13
Short version: QuietText does not collect your data. Your texts are checked on your iPhone and never sent anywhere.
What the app does with your texts
QuietText includes a Message Filter extension. When a text arrives from an unknown sender, iOS passes the sender and message to the extension on your device. The extension compares it to your rules and answers with a folder: Junk, Promotion, Transaction, or no opinion. It then forgets the text.
The extension does not use the optional network lookup that Apple provides to filter apps, and the app makes no network requests. There is no QuietText server.
What is stored on your phone
- Your rules. Which rule groups are on, the words you add, and your allow and block lists. Stored in the app’s storage on your iPhone.
- Test history. When you check a text in the Test tab, the Log tab saves the verdict, the reason, the time, and a salted one-way hash of the sender. It never saves the text itself or the phone number. The log keeps the most recent 200 entries.
- Your real texts. Not stored by QuietText.
This data stays on your device. It is not shared with us or anyone else. Like other app data, it may be included in device backups you make under your own Apple settings, and it is removed when you delete the app.
What we collect
Nothing. No account, no analytics, no advertising identifiers, no tracking, no third-party SDKs. The App Store privacy label for QuietText is Data Not Collected.
